Restaurant openings cap year-long transformation of airport’s dining options

(Ontario, California – July 26, 2018) – Ontario International Airport (ONT) officials announced the culmination of a multi-million-dollar effort to transform the airport’s dining concessions with the opening of Cross Grain Brewhouse and Harvest & Grounds. The food and beverage outlets are the latest additions to a $6 million initiative to upgrade the airport’s dining options with popular brands and products that appeal to business as well as leisure travelers.

Cross Grain Brewhouse is a brewpub and restaurant featuring a varied menu with a focus on hand-crafted food and a selection of local craft beers. Harvest & Grounds, a Euro-American bakery and café, serves local favorite Klatch Coffee, espresso drinks, sandwiches, salads, gourmet bite-to-eat plates, and packaged snacks. Both are located in Terminal 2.

“We pride ourselves in being responsive to the needs and desires of our customers,” said Alan D. Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority (OIAA). “The addition of Cross Grain Brewhouse and Harvest & Grounds reflects our intent to provide a new and exciting dining experience tailored to the tastes of our customers.”

The dining upgrade was done in partnership with Delaware North, one of the largest privately held hospitality and food service companies in the world.

“We’re very proud to put the finishing touches on this new and refreshed dining experience at ONT,” said Kevin Kelly, president of Delaware North’s travel division. “From exciting national brands like Rock & Brews and Wolfgang Puck to California favorites like Wahoo’s Fish Taco, hungry travelers have plenty of convenient options for all tastes and preferences.”

The agreement with Delaware North is expected to generate net revenue of $12.9 million over 10 years for the OIAA. Product prices charged to customers will not be more than 10% above the non-airport price for food and beverage, down from 18% under the previous concession agreement.

Delaware North’s travel division, which operates food, beverage and retail services in 33 airports worldwide, first began food and beverage operations at ONT in 1998 and the company was the first to sign a lease with the OIAA following the transfer of the airport to local control.
